- Replace loose mortar and weather stripping around the basement foundation and windows
- Screen vents and openings to chimneys
- Keep food in airtight containers and dispose of garbage regularly in sealed receptacles
- Keep tree limbs cut back six to eight feet from the roofline
- Store firewood at least 20 feet away from the house and five feet off of the ground
